Mommy, I'm Fat!

Well we went to Children's for the fourth time on Monday. It seems like a short trip down and a really long trip back. And this trip, in particular seemed like a big waste of time and money. This trip was so Katelyn could be seen by a pediatric immunologist instead of Dr. Hedberg who she had seen before. He was the one that ran all the immunologic blood tests that we never found out the results on. This doctor at Children's, Dr. Palmer, said that all of those tests turned out fine and she wasn't really sure why we were there to see her. She did offer to do a blood allergy test since it has been a year since Katelyn had her last allergy test. I have pretty much resigned to the fact that it is her dysphagia (swallowing dysfunction) and tracheomalacia (collapsing and malformation of her trachea) are the root of her problem.

We have also had a lot of problems since last week with her daycare and speech therapist. Luckily I work with someone whose wife has been a big help. Her name is Leigh and she is a speech therapist in Bentonville. She has given us some good advice and we have placed her in a new daycare. We are still working out the speech therapy thing. We did find out that the therapist Katelyn saw when her therapist was on vacation, Paige has gone to work for Children's Medical Team and may be available to do her therapy at the new daycare. However, the new daycare has a therapy service so we are trying to work with them first. In the meantime, her caseworker has referred us to Early Intervention (A therapy service for children under three).

Anyway, I am posting her new Easter pictures. Isn't the dress gorgeous? My mom sent it from Knoxville and when I put the dress on her it wouldn't zip. She threw a fit and said, "Mommy I'm fat!" I think it is so sad that children as young as 2 pick this up from our society.
